About The Partner

Saiki Design, Inc. is an award-winning firm specializing in landscape architecture and community planning. For this multi-phase urban project, they sought a manufacturing partner capable of meeting sustainability standards while providing heavy-duty, colorful site amenities.

The Challenge

The project site required a specialized balance of aesthetics and resilience. The design team needed a curated selection of furnishings that could achieve the following:

  • Urban Resilience: Products had to be durable enough to withstand harsh weather and heavy daily use.
  • Security & Stability: Furnishings needed to be securely anchored to resist disturbances & maintain safety in a high-traffic public space.
  • Visual Energy: The design required a bold, colorful palette to transform a standard urban area into a welcoming landmark.

The Solution

The selection process was driven by a commitment to environmental responsibility. Saiki Design prioritized a manufacturer whose production methods mirrored their own internal standards for ecological impact. By sourcing products locally, they were able to minimize the logistical carbon footprint of the project while supporting domestic craftsmanship.

"The 'green' initiatives of Thomas Steele/Madrax align with our sustainability values as a firm. Additionally, we encourage using locally produced products to limit the environmental impacts of our designs."          - Lydia DeBauche, ASLA

  • Positive Feedback: Stakeholders and daily users have specifically noted the vibrant aesthetic and the inviting atmosphere created by the new layout.
